Edward Wright joined the firm in 1993 from the Estates Department of Mister Minit plc, where he dealt with lease renewals, rent reviews and day to day management of their portfolio.
Since then he has built upon his existing expertise in the fields of landlord and tenant and valuation and has also carried out the responsibility for a large portfolio of property for the 1995 and 2000 rating revaluations with great success and has established himself as an important part of this aspect of the firm's activities.
Edward advises a variety of local and national clients on a daily basis on all aspects of landlord and tenant work, including rent review and lease renewal negotiations. On occasions where the parties have been unable to reach agreement, Edward has acted as an expert witness, and put his client's case to an appointed arbitrator, independent expert or court.
Since joining the practice in 1993, Edward has advised a wide range of clients on a nationwide basis in relation to their business rate liabilities. He acts for a number of local and national clients and has gained considerable experience in the valuation of shops, public houses, offices, industrial and leisure properties. He has brought several cases before the Valuation Tribunal on behalf of clients.
Although the practice is not involved in agency work, Edward is often asked by clients to find a suitable property to fulfil their requirements. This involves liaison between other agents and owners of land, and detailed discussions with local authorities.
Valuations can be needed for a variety of reasons, and Edward is frequently instructed to prepare valuations for inclusion into company accounts / financial statements, loan facilities, or for the calculation of tax liabilities, in accordance with the 5th edition of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' Appraisal and Valuation Standards.
