Paul Taylor commenced his career in the Valuation Office gaining experience in all classes of rating and valuation work, including a large amount of compulsory acquisition work in respect of motorway network construction in south and east Yorkshire. Before joining Lawrence Tattersall he had been progressively promoted through the Sheffield, Hull and West Derbyshire Valuation Offices. He joined the practice in 1984.
He has had the primary responsibility within the firm of leading our work in the retail field, as well as dealing with a large portfolio of industrial, distribution and licensed property. He has established himself as a recognised rating expert in this respect. He has chaired the British Retail Consortium Committees which conducted the central negotiations for the 1990 revaluation retail bases for Leeds, Rotherham and Sheffield. For the 1995 revaluation he chaired the Committees for Grimsby, Huddersfield, Hull, Rotherham, Scunthorpe, Sheffield and Wakefield.
In respect of the 2000 rating list, Paul again chaired the BRC rating committees for Leeds, Rotherham, Scunthorpe and Sheffield (including the Meadowhall Centre).
He has taken cases before the Valuation Tribunal and the Lands Tribunal.
In addition, he deals with a large number of rent reviews and lease renewals for retail and industrial clients throughout the country, valuations for accounting purposes, compensation issues relating to compulsory acquisition of land and buildings and general advice on property related matters on a daily basis.
He is an expert on the valuation of snooker clubs and pharmacies for various taxation and accounting matters.
