OCTOBER 2000

The Human Rights Act 1998

and construction dispute resolution in the U.K.

The Human Rights Act came into force on 2nd October 2000.

So what? Does it mean anything to you? The answer is certainly YES!

Some of its effects arise if you are ever involved in almost any kind of work undertaken to buildings. Dispute resolution and adjudication procedures are certainly going to be affected. Legal opinion varies as to what these effects are likely to be but you should be aware that things may no longer be as they were - even in very recent "new" procedures.
